Parmate engineered hardwood flooring is pre-finished with six coats of low sheen UV-cured scratch resistant finish by Bona, the world leader in non-toxic timber floor finishes. Bona finishes are the professionals No.1 choice for demanding commercial and domestic environments and provide maximum durability. The pre-finished Bona surface is guaranteed for 10 years.

Bona non-toxic, water-based coatings are used to coat Parmate flooring in order to give the best possible protection to the timber and to provide a hard-wearing scratch resistant surface. The Bona six coat process incorporates UV cured primers, pore fillers, base coats and top finishes. The anti-scratch technology ensures Parmate and Bona provide a hard-wearing low sheen polyurethane surface suitable for demanding high-traffic environments.

Manufactured by an environmentally responsible company, Parmate flooring is produced from materials sourced from sustainably managed forests. BKB Hevea Products are PEFC and FSC certified. All Australian species timber used has Chain of Custody certification.

All Parmate flooring complies with the requirements of the European Union E1 standard in relation to Formaldehyde emissions from adhesives used during the manufacturing process.

Parmate meets the requirements of the DIBt legislation with regard to the production processes. It has also been certified under the Green Label Singapore "Made from renewable sustainable materials" scheme.

All operations related to production and administration including sustainability processes are strictly controlled. Parmate flooring is manufactured within a Quality Management System certified to MS ISO 9001:2008. The certification process was carried out by IQNet & Sirim QAS. The certificate is available upon request.

Parmate is compliant with the Australian Illegal Logging Prohibition Legislation and distributors EFP are committed to complying with the Prohibition act and only purchase products manufactured with timber supplied from legally harvested sources.

The 2 component adhesive being used during the Parmate manufacturing process to bond the various layers together contains an isocyanate catalyst / hardener. Water based copolymer adhesives using an isocyanate hardener are very similar to waterborne 2 component timber floor finishes. The isocyanates react with the water at the time of mixing. Like a waterborne finish, once the adhesive has dried and cured it is essentially inert and unreactive.

In the past many timber flooring manufacturers used adhesives which emitted significant trace amounts of formaldehyde for many weeks after production. Parmate flooring uses no such materials and no manufacturer trading within the international market should be using such materials.

Parmate products meet the requirements of the European Standard EN 717-1:2004 (Chamber test method on formaldehyde emission) and are rated E1; an emissions level of less than 0.1 parts per million (0.1ppm).
